So apparently for all my thinking and dreaming of Yuletide, I got the day of signups wrong because I was in the middle of %$&%^$ midterm papers and missed it.

DAMMIT. I have never missed Yuletide before.

Well, I guess I'll just have to treat or pinch hit. And do [community profile] fandom_stocking

I feel really down about this.

Meet Frank and Sadie Doyle: Toast of the upper crust, headliners on the society pages, and, oh yes... They see ghosts! Think Nick and Nora Charles, but minus dog and baby, plus being experts in the supernatural. I love it so very, very much.

Beyond Belief is a podcast radio show that's part of the "Thrilling Adventure Hour" anthology podcast - for a typical case, a great example episode is "Caped Fear". (Did I mention it stars Paget Brewster as Sadie Doyle?)

Or, rather, it was two weeks ago. Ah well, better late than never.

This year I got a wonderful Yuletide fic in for the podcast radio show Beyond Belief on the anthology podcast "The Thrilling Adventure Hour", Gnoming Me, Gnoming You (1014 words) by janiejanine.

It was a whole lot of fun and everything I could have hoped for, which was rather embarrassing, since this year I was forced to default on my wonderful assignment, because after signups, I found out I would have to move and find a new apartment. Unsurprisingly, this ate my life and made it impossible for me to finish on time, causing me to bow out.

After the deadline, once I had moved, I was able to finish a Yuletide Treat, but the fic I started for my assignment is still in limbo. Sorry anonymous recipient! You'll get a surprise small fandom fic, um, sometime.

Note: Beyond Belief (the show on Thrilling Adventure Hour) has been around for a long time, but because the show is so episodic and self contained, you can get the idea in one 20-25 minute free episode.

For a typical case, a great example is "Caped Fear" http://www.nerdist.com/pepisode/thrilling-adventure-hour-96-beyond-belief-caped-fear/

For a wonderful and hilarious example of Frank and Sadie away from home and Beyond Belief making fun of a fictional source (in this case, Indiana Jones) I recommend "Sarcophagus Now" http://www.nerdist.com/pepisode/thrilling-adventure-hour-80-beyond-belief-sarcophagus-now/

And for a fun look at Sadie's best friend, Donna Henderson the vampire, not to mention their bigger, world-saving adventures, "When Cthulu Cthalls" http://www.nerdist.com/pepisode/thrilling-adventure-hour-153-beyond-belief-when-cthulu-cthalls/

Digger is a wonderful, Hugo-winning fantasy comic classic featuring a good-hearted and matter of fact wombat coping with gods, hyenas, quests and killer squash in what starts out seemingly whimsical and random, and turns out to be epic and heartclenching and incredible. Don't take my word for it, it's all online for free!

But hey, you don't have to have read it yet to read my Digger fic, I swear.

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Okay, first off, don't panic! It's not that I'm really asking you for bizarre moresomes, it's just that there are several specific characters I would like you to pick from. Okay? Cool. I'm very okay with optional details being optional, though I definitely want at least ONE of the non-optional requested characters to be the main character of the story.

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Okay, first off, don't panic! Frankly, I'm fairly omnivorous. If you write it, I suspect I'll like it.

Personally, I am not into incest, statutory rape, non-canonical character betrayal* by a fellow hero or adultery. (Poly is not adultery, to my mind, nor is any sort of standing agreement.)

I love adventure, plot, humor, heroism and friendship alone or in any combination you can give me. Crossovers, AUs and fusions are awesome. Also? Aliens.

The fandoms here are not ranked in any kind of order. I'd be equally thrilled to see any of them in my inbox on Yuletide. The things I am asking for are not just rare, they're super-rare. One has never been ficced before, as far as I can tell, and the rest have something like two fics ever. Whatever you write will be hugely appreciated. Just by trying, you are making me very, very happy.

The Fandoms:Hanna (2011), Temeraire - Naomi Novik, The Count of Monte-Cristo - Alexandre Dumas, Les Contes d'Hoffmann - Offenbach/Barbier )

Sincerely,

Grey Bard

*Character betrayal, to my mind, includes murder, attempted murder, rape, stealing your significant other, or in any other way behaving in an evil fashion toward a character or their loved ones. If it didn't happen in canon, I really super don't want to see it.

For some reason there is no fic for this movie. Fandom, are you crazy? Look at the BRANDON LEE pretty! And he's snarky! And slashy! This is one short, cracktastic, easy to find movie, and I have a primer on how awesome it is right here

Ladies, in one series CALL IS PLAYED BY KARL URBAN. I know how you feel about that. A Karl Urban character who lives with and raises a son with another man. And is a cowboy/Texas Ranger. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT? The lack of fic is killing me here.**
