Summary: The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, as adapted into musical theater by the Takarazuka Revue of Japan.

(Let's just imagine that licensing out the Disney songbook for an album was only the beginning of Disney's relationship with the all-female musical theater troupe, the Takarazuka Revue. Sparkles, discontinuity, casting and lightsaber interpretive dance ensue. )

A Detailed Summary of The Jedi Fall @ Takarazuka as written by an American fan

Act 1 - The Phantom Menace: As the curtains and the suns of Tatooine rise Shmi Skywalker, a slave, sings "As the Suns Rise, so Rises Hope" to her son Anakin. In it, she tells him that like the suns, hope always returns, including her hope for her child. The music is influenced by and includes parts of "Binary Sunset" from the original Star Wars score.  )

To people new to Takarazuka: I encourage you to read this short explanation of what the heck I'm talking about and check out tumblr.com/tagged/takarazuka for more of the delightful sparkly all-female musical crack that is this fandom.

As distinctive a visual figure as she is, Captain Phasma has not actually had many lines. Yet few as they are, they are consistent, painting a very distinctive verbal picture. There is such a thing as a specific Phasma voice. As a dialogue obsessive writer, I felt the need to collect and analyze it all, and since I put the work in, I felt that I might as well share it.

Collected here is every line of Phasma dialogue which I could find at the time of writing this. If I am missing any lines from The Force Awakens, Before the Awakening and Poe Dameron #2, let me know!

Analysis:

Phasma's speech patterns are precise and educated, bordering on formal. In all situations except her short period as a hostage on Starkiller, she projects self-assurance. Arguably, she is fully aware of this effect, and using it intentionally.

I have long loved Star Wars and Star Wars fic, since long before TFA was a gleam in Disney's eye. I have Han/Luke zines, okay? But anyway TFA happened and rattled around in my head, and I got struck by a fic idea that seems obvious to me but no one has done yet, and it's eating my brain. And weirdly, I think it will be good practice and training wheels for the orig fic that I still keep poking.

The fic's not going to happen any time soon, because grad school, and it may not pan out, but I'm sufficiently invested that I've already filled up a mini-notebook with notes for the damn thing, and I signed up for a fic tumblr just (and pretty much only) so I can join the mini version of the Star Wars Big Bang (I suspect I'll end up writing more than mini, but baby steps, baby steps).

TLDR, here's where you come in: I already have my hands on the original trilogy, Before The Awakening, the TFA Visual Dictionary, and TFA Cross Sections. Can anyone suggest other good sources to glean more information about the TFA-era state of the New Republic, any details about the First Order and the political state of the galaxy?

Also, is anyone interested in helping me work out world building stuff, subplot brainstorming, and so on? It wouldn't be terribly onerous, I just need someone to babble Star Wars at me and tell me which ideas sound good and which ones have massive holes. I have learned the lesson of George Lucas: ask smart people who are not yourself what they think!
